THE SUN (CITY) KEEPS RISING

By having Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico and Las Cruces, New Mexico within minutes away, El Paso, Texas generates triple the attraction compared to cities without a border or cities far away from each other. The attraction produced is not only towards fun and entertainment but towards a fundamental foundation for the success of the city, business attraction.

FROM WALL STREET TO MESA STREET
Business attraction is the economic base activity in which it targets to increase demand for the development of the city’s residents by exposing their talents to new job opportunities with a startup or a Fortune 500 company.

James Kim, who decided to leave a job many dream of at Wall Street to open up his own business in this progressive city, partnered with Andres Kim Lee, his friend from college who already owned Fahrenheit 32 and who wanted to expand his ice cream shop by offering more than only ice cream. Both James and Andres used the power of social media to recruit “coffee lovers and dessert enthusiasts” for their team at Fahrenheit 180, giving El Pasoans a chance for employment and a chance to discover how the culture of working for a local business differs from working at a chain enterprise.

IN SILICON VALLEY & IN THE RIO GRANDE
Fivestars, a Silicon Valley tech company is opening a Downtown El Paso office wishing to give employment to over 50 bright locals. Both of the founders; Victor Ho and Matt Doka, planned this strategic move to not only benefit their company, but to influence other firms looking into capital expansion to follow their steps into bringing offices to the Sun City, leading to job generation and city exposure.

MICROSOFT IN EL PASO!?
The multibillion-dollar tech giant announced it was starting the TechSpark program in our very own city. “We aim to bring educators, business, governments, nonprofits and other civic organizations together to turn these challenges into opportunities”. The challenges Microsoft speaks about are challenges regions out of metropolitan areas face regarding the way we learn, communicate and general health care access. The opportunities mentioned are focused on the creation of jobs and overall the economic growth technology is able to provide. To make the announcement even more exciting, Brad Smith, The President and Chief Legal Officer of Microsoft spoke about this program at The University of Texas at El Paso a few days after it confirmed its project location in Texas, along with an elaborated talk about The Importance of Artificial Intelligence.

With such diversity in The Sun City, there is no reason a firm looking to increase their business objective, an entrepreneur to start up their own ice cream shop, or for a professional ready to leave their big city lifestyle into one with as much satisfaction but with less traffic and with the luxury of having authentic Mexican food at their leisure. El Paso will soon be a city many will not only think about when it comes to retiring, but a city many think of when it comes to innovation, drive, and opportunities.
